Todd Whalen is the founder/owner of Advanced Tax Solutions, CPA, PC. AND diyIRShelp. Advanced Tax Solutions is A CPA firm dedicated to helping people with tax problems. That is the SOLE mission of ATS. During the course of business he saw a need to help people who could not afford professional help. He could see the stress people were under (he has felt it himself - see Todd's Story below), and it was obvious they could not pay the IRS, or a professional. This program was designed because of that need and specifically to give hope to those who could not afford to engage a professional to do the negotiating. DIY IRS help is a separate business based out of Wyoming, while Advanced Tax Solutions is a Colorado Professional Corporation. So, while they are two different businesses, there is one owner (Todd Whalen), and one goal, to help people get a solution with the IRS. The hope of this program is to help you solve your problem. It's the least expensive, yet powerful, means of accomplishing a solution with the IRS that you can do without professional help.
Todd Whalen is a nationally licensed EA (Enrolled Agent) and Colorado CPA (Certified Public Accountant). Todd was the 298 person since 1942 (over 70 years) to pass the tax court bar as a non-attorney. He is able to sue the IRS for Abuse of Power in Collection matters. He's a Certified Tax Resolution Specialist, as well as a NAEA fellow (the National Association of Enrolled Agent's highest professional designation for IRS Resolution). Todd has been featured on "Colorado's Best" television, and has been featured on radio stations such as KHOW, KBPI, KRKS, The Fox, and KLZ for his expertise in IRS resolution. Long ago, about 25 years ago, a lifetime ago it seems, I had my turn with the IRS. I’m glad I got it out of the way early in life. It was horrible. Have you every heard the saying that you should swallow a live frog first thing in the morning? That way you know that the worst thing that is going to happen to you today is already behind you! I feel that way about what happened to me, I got my tax problem behind me early in life. A divorce started my IRS debacle. The first symptom when that curtain fell was that it was impossible to sleep, so the rest of the day was miserable. It’s easy to have a drink in the evening to ease the nerves. But I would still wake up thinking about it. I didn’t have any money to go out and play and “shake it off”. And I worried. All the time. It’s a very real fear of “what happens next”. You fear the future conversation “The IRS took all my money and so I lost my house”. At least I didn’t have to worry about the IRS taking my house. She got that. You don’t have money to eat, let alone go out to dinner. I was sleeping in my truck, and I was lonely, scared, and pissed off. It went on this way for over two years as I plugged away amongst the IRS horrors.
I'd love to hear your story. Send an email to [email protected] and let me know if the IRS has gotten any friendlier!
